Since the pike are trying to recover from this time, they won't be super active unless they feel like it's going to be worth their energy. Slow-moving bait will make it look easier to catch for the pike. Bait like large grubs, minnows, or even lizards are perfect for this time of year. Throw your line to the edge of the tall weeds where the pike will be resting. Allow the bait to fall to the floor bed and slowly reel it in while shaking the line a bit. If you can make the lure emulate a dying or wounded prey, then you're doing it right. You could also use a plastic worm with a hook hiding inside to catch some pike in the middle of weeds. Try dipping your line into the gaps of vegetation and gently glide across the surface.
