HOW TO CATCH REDFISH DURING THE WINTER MONTHS
Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean that you can't have fun fishing for redfish. It may, however, be time to switch up the way that you go about fishing these guys. The same tactics that you use during the summer may not work when it's colder outside. Luckily, we've come up with some tips to help you get through the next couple of months while it's still chilly outside.

During cold weather, redfish are going to feed and move much less than normal. They aren't going to be as aggressive as they are whenever the temperatures are higher. It's important to point out that even though they are feeding less, it doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't still looking for food. The best time of the day to start is the middle of the day with the sun has sufficiently warmed up the water. Try looking for channels and structures to fish around for redfish. One surefire way to get them striking is by using live bait. The best way to really entice fish during the cold months is to give them actual food. You'll also want to slow your retrieve down quite a bit whenever you're fishing during the winter. These fish are going to be much more lethargic, so they aren't going to move as fast to get their food.

At Castaway Rods, we have some great options to choose from when buying a casting saltwater fishing rod, like the 7-foot light fast casting Pro Sport rod. Take some time to look through the many other styles of saltwater rods that are currently available at Castaway Rods. They'll have several different kinds to choose from.
