We are back for the second article in this series, discussing the variety of different topwater lures. We've got a lot to cover, so let's jump right back in and talk about prop bait.

The prop bait has been around for a long time, so you know that they work well. This is long slender bait that has props on both sides, making it easy for it to slide through any water with grass. One of the most popular styles of prop bait is a bluegill-shaped one. This style of topwater lure makes a lot of motion in the water without actually having to travel far. This allows the bait to stay in the strike zone a lot longer than some other styles of lures. You'll want to use this style in bluegill beds, around trees, and in shaded areas on sunny days.

The next style of topwater lure we're going to talk about is the wake bait which is pretty similar to a crankbait. This lure has a sharp-angled lip of plastic on the front that causes a v-shaped wake behind the bait while you're reeling it in. This should be used in calm waters because the wake it causes will draw fish out that aren't otherwise interested in moving.
